Aging is inevitable. It is a process that everybody will go through. While getting older makes some individuals cringe, it does not have to be a bad experience if you take care of yourself. First off, if you smoke, stop now. Smoking is not only bad for the skin, but for the body as well. Smoking can cause fine lines to form around the mouth, which is a huge ager. It makes the skin look dull, and can yellow your teeth, causing you too look older. Smoking also destroys collagen in the body, which helps to make the skin firm. It is very harmful for your lungs, which you want to keep as healthy as you can. Your lungs are what brings oxygen into your body, and oxygen is needed for every part of your body to survive.
You can also ward off aging by applying a good quality sunscreen each and every day. Some will believe they only need a sunscreen in the summer or when the sun is shining brightly. This is not true. The skin needs a sunscreen every day, even if it is cloudy out. UV rays can penetrate through clouds, which can wreak havoc on the skin.
Drink lots of water during the day. Water is important as it flushes out toxins from the body. It will keep the skin hydrated, which will fill in wrinkles. If you are not a fan of water, consider adding fresh fruit to it to infuse the taste. You may also drink green tea, as this form of tea contains many antioxidants that are great for skin health.
Eat lots of colors in your diet. Think lots of oranges, reds, and greens. Make sure your diet is well rounded. Eat fatty fish a few times per week, such as salmon. Eating well can make a huge difference in how the skin looks. When a variety of healthy foods are eaten, the skin can glow. Steer clear of alcohol and sugars as they can age the skin greatly.
Exercise to stay looking and feeling young. It is advised to do at least 30 minutes of moving four or five days per week. Find an exercise program for you that is easy to do and fits into your schedule. This could include walking, jogging, swimming, playing tennis, yoga, or basketball. Exercise will tone and tighten the body, keep the heart healthy, and give the skin the glow that it needs to look healthy.
Meditation is a great way to clear the mind. Many do not like meditation as they find it too hard to concentrate. Meditation can be slowly worked on, increasing the time a minute or two every few days until the desired time is reached.
